As the first of its kind in the Wichita area, Project Teacher intends to be a Free Store that encourages and fosters a sense of community among teachers – underprivileged and affluent areas alike. If you are a teacher – you are our hero. We know the sacrifices you make for your students that many of your parents, friends, and even family don’t see. We recognize that your 40-hour work week is actually twice as long. We know that you are working throughout the Summer and on weekends. And we know that you spend way more out of your pocket for your classroom than you want to admit.

Project Teacher aims to equip public school teachers in the Greater Wichita Area with much needed classroom and teacher supplies. We provide teachers with resources at no charge for their classrooms like core school supplies, fun incentive items, basic needs products, and arts and crafts supplies that encourage creativity. To supplement our work we also support local students and classrooms by conducting special distribution events held throughout the year.

Schools are assigned shopping days and ONLY teachers from assigned shopping days are allowed to shop. If you are a registered teacher, you will be notified for upcoming shopping times.

Shopping the free store is easy! Teachers are welcome to two shopping trips per school year. When you arrive, follow these simple steps:

  • STEP ONE: Check in at the front with your district issued ID card.
  • STEP TWO: Receive a shopping list from a volunteer, who will briefly review the shopping procedures with you.
  • STEP THREE: Fill out the shopping list as you go; doing so will help to ensure a quick and easy check out. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE LIMITS.
  • STEP FOUR: Check out and take your thank you slip. It is very helpful to us if your students write thank you notes for our product donors!

  • Shopping Times: Please respect your allotted shopping time (usually 30-45 minutes).
  • Guests: Student teachers are asked to shop with their classroom teacher. Because of space, we ask that you limit shopping partners.
  • Shopping bag/box: You are probably going to leave with more than you can carry, and while we try to have bags for teachers to take, you should bring your own shopping bags to place items in when you shop.
